Okada Manila Casino

Casinos fascinate me. It is not just about the wonderful design of the interior and the facade. It is more of the people inside the casino ☺

I have seen gamblers like that of the gangsters/mafia in the movie. There are guests who are just so casual lookin' but are heavy casino gamers. Some are just loitering around and taking their chances in the slot machines while others are just watching out of curiosity on every table game.

Casinos in the Philippines are now competing with the casinos in Macau. This time, Okada is the newest here in Metro Manila.

The Inner Voice

I believe that mind can never comprehend
every speck of reality,
a niche of translucency and disguise
soars into the midst of the unknown.

I believe that there is a voice from within
that never fails to remind the truth,
the must be and might be of life.
The three dimensions of matter can be visible
but the inner content may not be recognized.

Meet Bo Sanchez at The Feast

Every start of the year, I make it a habit to write down the goals I want to accomplish, the things I want to do and the places I want to visit. In my 2009 journal, included in my to-do-list is to attend one of Brother Bo Sanchez’s talks. I am a big fan of Bo and it is my dream to see him in person. I watch his preachings on tv regularly and I find his talks very inspiring, what more if it’s live?

Better late than never, I was able to put a check on this item this 2012. In the office, I constantly receive e-mails of daily dose from Bro. Bo’s blog, thanks to gwen! (“_”) This serves as a cue to complete my 2009 outstanding assignment. Fortunately,I have another officemate who is part of the Life of Jesus family, the community of Brother Bo. She informed me that Brother Bo is regularly conducting his talks (The Feast) at the PICC for free.

Positivity and The Blessing of Favor

This 2011 is a celebration of Positivity. Last September, I attended the Association of Service Professionals in Life Insurance (ASPLI) convention held in Subic. The speakers not only presented customer-centric topics but also highlighted the importance of having a good perspective in life. Showcased during the event are the inspirational life stories of Nick Vujicic, Bethany Hamilton, Derek Redmond, among others, which served as a reminder for us, the participants, to be positive and to never give up in our goals/endeavor.

On the other note, I also attended two casual seminars imparting the same trail of wisdom: "Success depends on us and we have to be surrounded with positive people in our lives. We also need good mentors (maybe a friend, boss, or colleague) to guide us on the right track.

Recently, I received an inspirational book as a gift from a friend entitled "The Blessing of Favor" which I wanted to share this new year's eve:

"God's will for our life isn't that we barely get by. He is a God of supernatural increase. He's a God of Abundance. And his plan for us is that we have more than enough. We need to tap into those things that belong to us."

The book encourages the readers to have faith on God's goodness and grace. As enumerated on Chapter 4 of the book, here are the ways to activate the favor of God:

1. Pray for Favor

2. Acknowledge Favor everytime something good happens to you

3. As we begin to acknowledge and recognize favor, we will experience more of it

4. Sow favor

5. Confess favor on a daily basis

6. Call the favor of God to operate in your life

7. Expect Favor

As a final piece, may we welcome the New Year with good vibes, with right attitude and with a prayer for blessings of favor. Cheers to 2012 ("_")

Travels by Michael Crichton (A Book Review)

"If you’re a writer, the assimilation of important experiences almost obliges you to write about them. Writing is how you make the experience your own, how you explore what it means to you, how you come to possess it, and ultimately release it.” – Michael Crichton

Michael Crichton, the author of the famous 1993 film “Jurassic Park”, wrote an autobiography of his journey and adventures entitled “Travels”.  Ever since high school, he was a habitual traveler. He had already traveled in different continents when he started medical school in Harvard. His adventures were extreme - he experienced diving with sharks, tracking wild animals in Africa, and trekking across remote places, such as Pakistan.

What’s on your mind?

Mark Zuckerberg has revolutionized our way of communication. Be it a post-celebration, group discussion, events planning, business dealing or even senseless chat, we often rely on his brainchild social networking site - Facebook.

In this contemporary world, where things are becoming more virtual and people are becoming more techno-savvy, it’s good to know the story behind the creation of Facebook.

Mark Zuckerberg, who is a Harvard undergraduate that time, developed Facebook where everyone can share information and control it securely. It was an exclusive network for the Harvard Community, but later on, the network expanded and conquered other universities, such as Stanford and Yale. Soon, it became a hit across the globe with 500 million active users to date.

Watching the Social Network has made me realize to dream big and to explore every opportunity. I admire Mark, who is of my same age, for being one of the youngest billionaires in the world. He dared to make a difference by creating a company that stands-out from the rest. He bravely faced the lawsuit on alleged stealing of ideas, wherein, the prosecutors were his wealthy Harvard School schoolmates. He even experienced school suspension. He literally “faced” it all.

Yes, he even made few enemies – the tagline of the story. He even had conflict with his close friend, facebook CEO Eduardo Saverin. But in the end, frayed relations were patched-up and lawsuits were settled.

What’s on your mind? As of now….. Dream big.
